Our Background
We'd spent years developing entertaining technologies and marketing magical experiences that audiences loved. One day, we stepped back to focus on the rest of the picture. That was the genesis of Agile Journeys: Recalling that, in the wake of a terrible queue, enchantment evaporates or that when you've spent all day at too quick a pace, excitement fades.
Agile Journeys began with a question:
What would a day with no waits be like?
As a thought experiment, what if every time a guest boarded a ride or entered a theater, a little ticket printed, marking the event, and noting the time? Then gather all those tickets into a book, jump into a time machine, restart the day, but now the guest has a book of tickets. Taking the tickets in order, the guest could experience all the same attractions as before, but with no queuing. Simply board the ride or enter the theater at the time printed on the ticket.
For want of a time machine, we had to find a way to plan a perfect day like that, but make it flexible too, which we did:
the Agile Journey
What's an Agile Journey?
Agile Journeys begin by learning about your guests.
Whatever preferences a party is willing to share with you, that distinguish among the attractions you offer, can be used to identify those attractions able to most please the group or individual. Such preferences can be likes, dislikes, favorite things, irritants, needs – and fortunately, the party knows themselves, so they needn’t fret about your attraction details or status.
Out of the gate, we suggest something to do first, and the party can already head toward fun. Meanwhile, a journey planner considers the many possibilities for what comes next, to best control the travel and wait times that would otherwise diminish a great experience.
Finally, things crop up – an irresistible distraction, unavoidable interruption, unscheduled maintenance – and that's where Agile shines: Keeping the fun on track.
